The Western Illinois Museum is pleased to share a recent performance by Sally Weisenberg and Don Berbaum recorded on their front porch! We share the pre-recorded video with you from Our Front Porch on Sunday, December 20 at 7:00 pm on the Museum’s YouTube channel. In between the sets of music, we’ll welcome Tom Carper and Bill Maakestad for a brief conversation about the local music scene. This program is dedicated to Tate Lindahl in gratitude for his long-time support to local music and the arts.

Sally Weisenberg and Don Berbaum are well-known for their performances across the region including headlining the Al Sears Jazz Festival for many years. This intimate performance was a welcome gift the musicians offered in place of their scheduled performance at this year’s Blind Swine Speakeasy. It was recorded on October 10th for the museum by TNT Video Services. Two sets of music were performed which included their eclectic mix of well-loved jazz, rock, and even country tunes that will get you out of your seat and cutting a rug.

In addition to the recorded program, Tom Carper and Bill Maakestad will join us on Our Front Porch to talk about the area’s active and long-standing music scene. Tom Carper, in addition to serving as Mayor of Macomb, owned and ran Tom’s Cafe which was a popular gathering place and featured country to Chicago Blues with local and Midwest talent. Bill Maakestad, who continues to be a popular local performer, has been a long-time advocate of local musicians through initiatives like his Macomb Un-plugged programs.
